FAYETTEVILLE, ARK. Home runs by Destiny Frankenstein and Jessica Moppin helped Kansas University to a 5-4, 10-inning victory over Arkansas in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday.
The Jayhawks won the rain-shortened second game, 1-0, in 51/2 innings.
Senior Kara Pierce (15-10) scattered eight hits and struck out eight in the opener. Frankenstein went 3-for-4 with a walk.
In the second game, designated player Serena Settlemier drew a second-inning walk and moved to second on a hit by center fielder Mel Wallach. Pitcher Kassie Humphreys put both runners in scoring position on a fielder's choice, and Nettie Fierros walked with the bases loaded to score Settlemier.
