Harold F. Jones

? Graveside inurnment services for Harold F. Jones, 82, Ottawa, will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa with Masonic services by Ottawa Lodge No. 18 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons and military services by Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post No. 5901 of Ottawa.

Mr. Jones died Tuesday, April 20, 2004, at Village Manor Nursing Home in Ottawa.

He was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Ottawa, the son of William Henry and Nellie Grace Fenton Jones. He grew up in Ottawa and graduated from Ottawa High School in 1939. He later moved to Pleasanton but returned to Ottawa in 1975.

Mr. Jones drove a truck for 15 years at the strip mines for Peabody Coal Co. in Pleasanton, worked at Ford Motor Co.’s Kansas City assembly plant and worked for the state of Kansas at the Port of Entry in Trading Post, then in Olathe.

He served in World War II with the U.S. Army Ordnance Tank Transport in Europe and was a lifetime member of VFW Memorial Post 5901.

Mr. Jones was a past member of Eureka Lodge No. 88 A.F. & A.M. of Pleasanton; Ottawa Lodge No. 18, A.F. & A.M; and Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of Lawrence.

He attended First Baptist Church and the Homebuilders Sunday School Class.

He married Estel Yvonne Johnson on Sept. 21, 1975, in Ottawa. She survives of the home.
