Lawrence could get a few more pop-up showers before evening. But the heaviest thunderstorms will stay south and east of the city, Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologis said late Tuesday afternoon.
Sayers predicted that the Eudora area could see some strong thunderstorms through about 5:30 p.m. However, the storm system will probably be out of the area by 6:30 p.m., he said.
By 4:30 p.m., the Lawrence Municipal Airport had reported 0.82 of an inch of rain for the day. Periods of heavy showers fell on the city through the mid afternoon.
The city had about a half of an inch of rain between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.
Overnight, the temperature is expected to drop to 49.
The high Wednesday will reach 72 under partly cloudy skies.
"If you liked yesterday, you're going to like tomorrow," Sayers said.
The next chances for rain are Thursday and Friday. The highs on both days will be in the 60s.
