Matthew L. Beem

Mr. Beem died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.

He was born Dec. 9, 1968, in Topeka, the son of Marvin L. “Hans” and Mary Long Beem.

Mr. Beem graduated from Eudora High School in 1987. He worked for E & E Specialties for 10 years as an extruder operator. He also worked as a custodian for two years at Kennedy School in Lawrence and for nine years at Nottingham Elementary School in Eudora. He moved to Georgia in 2003.

He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Eudora. He also was a member of the National Rifle Assn.

He married Mary Rose Freeman on Sept. 3, 1988, in Eudora. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include his parents, Eudora; a daughter, Amanda Beem, of the home; a sister, Machaela Watson, Eudora; and a maternal grandmother, Fern Long, Eudora.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday and until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorials to the Amanda Beem Educational Fund, or the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, sent in care of the funeral home.
