Carol Graves

? Services for Carol Graves, 70, Pittsburg, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Pittsburg. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Pittsburg.

Mrs. Graves died Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at St. Joseph Health Center in Kansas City, Mo.

She was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Pittsburg, the daughter of Fred and Helen Raxter Wintle. She attended Pittsburg schools and graduated from College High School.

Mrs. Graves was a supervisor for Southwestern Bell for several years before she moved to Wichita in 1957 and began her career in the bowling industry at West Acres Bowl. She was the first woman manager of a bowling center in the state of Kansas. She later moved to Lawrence and managed the Royal Lanes bowling center for 19 years until she retired in 1997 and returned to Pittsburg.

She was a member of First Christian Church of Pittsburg, where she was a reception coordinator for the Disciple Women, a substitute secretary, a member of the worship department and a helper with special projects. She was also a member of the Kansas Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame and the Kansas Women’s Bowling Assn. She was a Special Olympics volunteer.

She married Bill Graves on Feb. 17, 1976, in Pittsburg. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Brent Hudson, Olathe; a daughter, Cindy Roach, Wichita; a brother, William Wintle, Pittsburg; two sisters, Barbara Pistole, Pittsburg, and Kathy Wintle, Overland Park; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at Brenner Mortuary Chapel in Pittsburg.
