Dorothea Ellen Grace Van Nice
Services for Dorothea Ellen Grace Van Nice, 79, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Van Nice died Monday, April 12, 2004, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Melbourne, Australia, the daughter of John and Dorothy McNabb Scott. She moved from Melbourne to Topeka in 1947 and then to Lawrence in 1948.
Mrs. Van Nice was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and 8&40, the Mackey Merry Makers and the Oak Ridge Birthday Club.
She married Harlan Dwight Van Nice on Jan. 29, 1947, in Topeka. He died March 2, 2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Joan L. Van Nice, Lawrence; a son, John R. Van Nice, Lawrence; and two grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials to the American Legion, sent in care of the mortuary.
