Central students win gold at Science Olympiad

A pair from Central Junior High School received a gold medal April 3 at the state Science Olympiad competition at Wichita State University.

Brandon Mailand and Raquel Gonzalez, both eighth-graders, took first in their division of experimental design. They were given materials to design an experiment demonstrating Newton’s third law, “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

In all, Central Junior High had 10 students qualify in 20 events for the state competition.
