FCE and 4-H news

Douglas County Family and Community Education in cooperation with K-State Research & Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is offering a program “Antimicrobial Resistance and the Food Supply” at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St.

The program will be given by Karen Pesaresi Penner, K-State Research and Extension specialist and professor in food science. The program explores the use of antimicrobial and its effectiveness in fighting diseases.

To register, call the Extension Office at 843-7058. The program is free and open to the public.

  • Kanwaka Family and Community Education will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Mary Czupor. The lesson will be “Helpful Household Hints.” Co-hostess is Aliene Bieber.
  • The Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club met March 8. Members enrolled in the foods project gave a presentation about quick snacks and healthy eating choices. The next meeting will be Monday.
  • The Stull Busy Beavers 4-H Club met March 8. The meeting was called to order by Josh Lesser.

Members wore green and white clothes to show their 4-H spirit. The club had its annual evaluation by the Cottonwood 4-H Club members. There was a short program. Members enjoyed eating green-colored snacks.

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Stull United Methodist Church. The junior officers will conduct the meeting.
