KU’s Giddens has scope

Kansas University freshman basketball player J.R. Giddens is on crutches this week for a couple of reasons.

Giddens, KU’s 6-foot-5 guard from Oklahoma City, as reported last week, had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot.

It turns out Giddens last week also had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to repair some cartilage damage.

Rehab time for the minor knee surgery is a couple weeks. Rehab time for the stress fracture is a whopping 12 weeks.

Giddens’ left foot is the same one that was operated on last June. The foot currently is in a large cast. He is unable to put any weight on his foot.
