MANU next for Baker

— Baker University's football team will try to even its record in today's homecoming game against undefeated MidAmerica Nazarene University.

Kickoff is 2 p.m. at Liston Stadium.

The Wildcats (1-2 overall, 1-2 Heart of America Conference) are coming off a 28-7 setback to Missouri Valley College last week at Marshall, Mo.

Junior running back Jon Reeves leads the Baker attack with 85 carries for 444 yards and a touchdown this season.

BU senior quarterback Martin Updike has completed 28 of 77 passes for 303 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in three games. His favorite target by far has been junior wide receiver Keenan Ganz, who leads the team with 16 catches for 162 yards and a TD.

Junior free safety Ron Givan anchors the Wildcats' defensive unit with 26 total tackles. Givan also has an interception. Freshman defensive end Luke Thompson has 14 tackles, including nine for losses totaling 49 yards. Thompson also has a pair of sacks.

The Pioneers (4-0, 3-0) utilize a two-head rushing attack of senior running back Greg Simpson (81 carries for 384 yards and three TDs) and senior quarterback John Booth (56 carries for 390 yards and seven TDs).

Booth also is 31-of-66 passing for 515 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.
