Short & sweet
Web site offers answers to food safety questions
An Iowa State University project team has developed a science-based question-and-answer Web site that provides answers to consumers’ food-safety questions.
At FoodSafetyAnswers.org, consumers can search — either by keyword or by browsing a list of categories — for answers to more than 500 of the most commonly asked food-safety questions.
If the visitor’s question is not in the site’s database, the visitor has the option to ask a food-safety expert, from a team recruited to provide individual answers.
The university says the site is designed for easy use by consumers and food-industry employees, and promotes information-sharing among food experts and educators.
