Man found guilty in attempted-murder case

A Douglas County jury on Friday found Antonio E. Floyd guity of attempted first-degree murder in the shooting of a Lawrence woman in her eastern Lawrence home.

Floyd, a 20-year-old Lawrence man, was charged with shooting the woman in the head and chest last fall at her home in the 1500 block of Haskell Avenue.

Floyd was also found guilty of sexual battery, aggravated burglary and aggravated intimidation of a witness in the case.

The jury handed down their verdict after deliberating five hours Thursday and about two hours Friday morning.

Sentencing was set for Oct. 17 in Douglas County District Court.
