  • Peterson Hole-in-One: Bob Peterson used an eight-iron to ace the par-three, 125-yard No. 8 hole at the Orchards Thursday. Witnesses were Ken Amess, Bill Osborne and Bob Howard.

  • Aquahawks Clinic: Lawrence Aquahawks swim team will hold an introductory clinic at 6 p.m. next Wednesday at the Lawrence Indoor Aquatic Center. Anyone interested in joining the Aquahawks is invited. Call Mike Soderling or Scott Bliss at 841-8891.

  • Sailing Qualifier: Tim Fitzgerald, a Kansas University freshman from Wichita, has qualified to sail in the Sunfish Class World Championships next month off St. Maarten.

  • Rebels Tryouts: Tryouts for next summer’s U-11 Kansas Rebels baseball team will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at old Seabury Academy, 1411 E. 1850 Road. Call 832-8427 after 6 p.m.

  • Manor Golf Tourney: Deadline is Friday for the annual Presbyterian Manor Golf Tournament at 1 p.m. next Thursday at Eagle Bend. Proceeds go to the Manor’s Good Samaritan Fund. Call 841-4262.

  • Strikers Tie: Lawrence U-18 Strikers White tied the KC Legends, 2-2, Sunday in Olathe after a 3-0 loss to KC Freedom Saturday. Sunday’s goals were by Anna Ashcraft and Cassie Pennell. Kendal Forio had an assist. Also Sunday, Strikers U-19 Blue tied the KC Strikers, 2-2. Goals were by Emilie Humbarger and Whitney Lopez with assists going to Megan Johnson and Rebekah Berkley.

  • UNB Champs: University National Bank 88’s won the Sport 2 Sport Fall Classic U-12 baseball tournament. Team members are Justin Balster, Jack Bush, Drake DeBiasse, Ben Harms, Cody Jones, Tanner Kilmer, Conner Klutman, Ryan Leibach, Michael McCabe, Matthew Montes de Oca, Chris Parker, Adam Petz and Ryan Scott. Coaches are Wilson Kilmer, Joe Jones, John Parker and Bruce Scott.

  • Anderson JGC Winner: Chris Anderson shot a three-over-par 75 and won Sunday’s Jayhawk Golf Club tournament at Alvamar. Mike Naegele was runner-up with a 77, followed by Ron Huckfeldt 78 and Jay Patterson 80. In net scoring, Tim Aldrich was low with a 65, followed by Bob Kocour 70, Jim Currier 72 and Larry Whiteley 72.

  • KU Soccer Clinic: Kansas University soccer will conduct a free youth clinic and autograph session at 5:30 p.m. today at SuperTarget Field for youths ages 5-13.

  • Memorial Tourney: Entries are being accepted for the Penny Cohn Memorial Golf Tournament Sept. 29 at Overland Park Deer Creek. The tourney honors a KU Med Center physical therapist who died of cancer three years ago and benefits physical therapy students. Cohn was a daughter of the late Dr. Penfield Jones, a Lawrence physician. Call Barbara Wetzler at (913) 402-6724.

  • Riley, Wilson Win: Lawrence’s Steve Riley and Dick Wilson won the masters and ages 70-74 divisions of the 10-mile portion of the Flag Run Saturday in Overland Park. Brian Daldorph was second in the 45-49 age group. In the 5K, Lawrence’s Gary Calton was runner-up in the 40-44 age group.

  • October Road Races: Entries are being taken for two road races — the Sandrat Trail Run Oct. 5 on the Kansas River trails and the Run for Success Oct. 11 at Clinton Lake’s overlook. Call Steve Riley at 842-4351.

  • Baseball School: Five-Tool Baseball School will take on-site registrations at 8:45 a.m. Saturday at Free State High’s field. The school is open to third through eighth graders. Call Mike Hill at 766-4916.

  • Youth Basketball: Registration deadline is Sept. 24 for the city’s youth basketball program for kindergarten through sixth graders. Forms are available at city rec centers or at www.lprd.org.
