Steamy, windy weather in Lawrence’s forecast

Get ready for a bad hair day.

High humidity and breezy conditions are expected through the evening, says Matt Sayers, 6News meteorologist.

Winds are will be between 15 and 21 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

“Winds from the south are bringing up a lot of moisture,” Sayers said.

But he’s not expecting any rain.

“For today, it’ll be a little warm out there and muggy,” he said. The high will reach 87.

The National Weather Service is predicting only a 20 percent chance of measurable precipitation during the day, increasing to 40 percent in the evening.

But overnight, the temperature will drop to 70, with cloudy conditions increasing, Sayers said.

Windy conditions will continue, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

On Thursday, there’s a good chance for rain off and on throughout the day, with a high reaching 81, Sayers said.

The National Weather Service says the chance for measurable precipitation is 60 percent on Thursday and 50 percent Thursday night.

Scattered showers are expected on Friday, possibly into Saturday morning, Sayers said.

The NWS puts the chance for rain on Friday at 50 percent, 20 percent for Friday night and 30 percent for Saturday.
