Third victim identified in Wichita

? With the help of an anthropologist, Wichita Police identified a third victim Wednesday among the dismembered human remains found in a Cowley County dump pit.

All the victims were apparently patrons of Club Mexico in Wichita, said Wichita Police Lt. Ken Landwehr.

It may be months before any of remains are positively identified through dental records or DNA testing.

But authorities believe the victims include Clint Jones, 30, of Wichita, who police said was killed July 26 at the club. The other victims are believed to be brothers Oscar Ramirez, 27, and Nicolas Ramirez, 22. They were last seen July 31 at the club.

Jones was not related to, and apparently did not know, the Ramirez brothers, Landwehr said.

Four people were charged Wednesday in connection with the case and two others are expected to be charged today.

The case broke last week when investigators looking into the brothers’ disappearance searched Club Mexico after getting a tip about the club. Interviews with people at the club led police to the remote fire pit in Cowley County, where the remains were discovered.

Police also have searched the home of the club owner, Arturo Garcia. He was charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Jones on July 26 and the Ramirez brothers on July 31.

Police are assuming they were all shot, but that has not been confirmed by the coroner, Landwehr said.

The other defendants are Christy A. Cousins, 19, of Wichita; Lauren R. Bertsch, 18, of Wichita; and Marshall L. McCrea, 21, of Andover.

Garcia’s bond was set at $1 million. Bond for three others charged Tuesday for aiding and abetting in the crimes was set at $100,000.
