Evans Hole-in-One: Frank Evans used a six-iron to ace the par-three, 163-yard No. 11 hole last week at Alvamar Country Club. Witnesses were Ev Buhler, Denny Hummel, Bob Watkins and Mike Easterday.

  • Strikers Drop Two: Lawrence Strikers White bowed to KC Omega, 2-1, and Strikers Blue lost to Blue Valley Hawks, 3-1, at Olathe Heritage Soccer Park last weekend. White’s goal was scored by Ashley Isbell on Anna Ashcraft’s assist. Blue’s goal was by Rebekah Berkley. Megan Johnson had the assist.
  • Boeck Winner: Dee Boeck of Lawrence won the women’s ages 50-54 division of the Leawood Labor Day 5K. She was timed in 22:11.

  • Rebels U-11 Tryouts: Tryouts for next year’s Kansas Rebels U-11 baseball team will be at 9 a.m. Sept. 13 at the old Seabury Academy on 1850 Road. Call 832-8427 after 6 p.m.

  • Mass Street Mile: Entries are being taken at city rec centers for the Mass Street Mile scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 14. The race will start in South Park and run through downtown Lawrence. Participants will receive a T-shirt. For information, call Duane Peterson at 832-7940.

  • Double Eagle: Ray Wilson of Lawrence used a driver and a five-wood to record a double eagle on the par-five 515-yard No. 8 hole Wednesday at Alvamar Public. Witnesses were Dan Sexton and Bob Schwartz.
  • Morningstar Shines: Linsey Morningstar, a May Free State High graduate now playing volleyball at Temple University, was one of six Owls players named to the all-tournament team last weekend at the North Carolina Invitational.
