Lions' girls tennis rolls in first meet

Leavenworth -- The Lawrence High girls tennis team started strong, beating Leavenworth 8-0 and Shawnee Mission North 6-2 in a triangular.

Sydney Lartigue won both of her matches at No. 1 singles by 8-0 counts. April Merino-Brammell won both of her matches at No. 2 singles.

"Considering how little practice we have had with the heat of the last two weeks, we did OK," LHS coach Dick Wedel said.

The Lions play a home dual at 3 p.m. today against Blue Valley Northwest.
