Injury accidents

  • A Lawrence teenager was injured shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday when the 1988 Toyota car she was driving struck a 1993 Dodge car at the intersection of U.S. Highways 24 and 59. Katherine Larson-Naramore, 17, was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released. Larson-Naramore was driving north on U.S. 24 when the southbound Dodge attempted to turn east in front her. The driver of the Dodge was identified by the Kansas Highway Patrol as Carrie J. Dawby, 27. Dawby was not injured.
  • A 70-year-old Lawrence man was in good condition Tuesday night at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, where he was taken after a one-vehicle accident earlier in the day on U.S. Highway 40. Melvin C. Lisher was driving west on the highway at 9:05 a.m. about two miles west of Lawrence when he lost control of his 1994 Ford pickup and rolled into the north ditch.
  • A truck rolled down a hill early Tuesday in Leavenworth County, sending the driver to the hospital. The wreck happened at 8 a.m. when driver Leo E. Aich, 33, Muskogee, Okla., tried to make a left turn while driving on State Avenue two miles west of Tonganoxie. The load he was carrying in his 2001 Dodge truck was too heavy, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report. Aich was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and had been released by Tuesday evening.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A truck belonging to Todd’s Plumbing, 725 E. 22nd St., was vandalized in a burglary reported Monday to Lawrence Police. Damage to the radiator, tools and a window were listed at $1,650.
  • A Sony PlayStation, video games and DVDs were taken in a burglary sometime Monday night at an apartment in the 2400 block of Alabama Street. A 26-year-old man reported the incident to police. Total losses were listed at $1,550.
  • An 18-year-old Kansas University student reported Monday that her 2002 BMW sustained damage to a front quarter panel. Damage was estimated at $1,000. The car was parked in the 1800 block of Naismith Drive.
