Harlow D. Walker

? Services for Harlow D. Walker, 79, Ottawa, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Ottawa.

Mr. Walker died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at Village West Nursing Home in Ottawa.

He was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Ottawa, the son of Sylvester and Estella (Kennedy) Walker. He was raised in Ottawa and graduated from Ottawa High School.

Mr. Walker worked for Santa Fe Railway for a few years before he joined Kile Construction in Ottawa. He then worked for Jay Meeker for a few years before working at Rule and Shrum Construction, where he retired in 1988 after 21 years of service. He began working part-time as a grounds keeper at Ransom Memorial Hospital after retirement.

He married Mildred E. “Millie” Pearson on Aug. 6, 1946, in Ottawa. She died Oct. 27, 1993.

Survivors include two sons, Sam and Mark, both of Ottawa; two daughters, Pam Schulz, Ottawa, and Nancy King, Emporia; three brothers, David, Nebraska, Clyde, Oregon, and Dean, Iowa; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
