FCE and 4-H news

Stull FCE will meet at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the home of Judy Wulfkuhle. The lesson topic will be “Minding Your Manners.”

The Four Leaf Clover 4-H Club met Oct. 13 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds. A presentation about the Citizenship Washington Focus was given by Jim Ashcraft, Kelly Flanders and Morgan Trowbridge.

Anne Dinsdale’s state fair picture was chosen to be used by the 4-H Foundation for publications. The club had a project fair after the meeting.

The next meeting will be Nov. 10. The club will have a Thanksgiving dinner.

The Clinton Eagles 4-H Club met Oct. 6 at Wakarusa Valley School. Michelle Colgan, president, called the meeting to order. Members answered roll call by naming their favorite Halloween candy. Morgan Manger and Delaney Dieker led the club in singing. Kahlyn Heine gave the treasurer’s report.

Marilyn Colgan gave the leader’s report. She announced that Kimberly Davis was the new county 4-H agent. Jeri Baldwin volunteered to represent the club on the County Fair Concession Stand Committee. The county achievement celebration will be Nov. 2, and the Dieker family offered to help at the event.

Lisa Gaston, arts and crafts leader, announced that members enrolled in the arts and crafts project would meet from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the Clinton Township Hall.

The 2003-2004 officers were installed by community leaders. The new officers are: Donald Baldwin, president; Cory Gaston, vice president; Charlie Garzillo, secretary; Kahlyn Heine, treasurer; Michelle Colgan, parliamentarian; Kirstyn Heine, reporter; Mary Garzillo, historian; Delaney Dieker and Morgan Manger, song leaders; Danielle Hodges and Sandina Oxford, recreation leaders; and Michelle Colgan and Haven Bouton, county council representatives.

Dustin Hoyt, Rebekah Clouse, Sierra Randall, Tessa Lieber and Madeline Goscha are new members.

The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at the home of the Heine family.

The Douglas County Family and Community Education Council will sponsor its annual Fall Festival at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday in Building 21 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.

There will be a potluck lunch served at noon. Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share and table service.

Ailene Bocquin will present the program, “Singing Cowboys and Things.”

Attendees are encouraged to wear a favorite hat, old gloves, scarves and jewelry.

The Meadowlark 4-H Club members had a pizza party Oct. 14 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Taj Heckler presided at the meeting. Members answered roll call by telling their shoe size. The club sang “Happy Birthday” to members who celebrated an October birthday.

The following members were elected junior officers: Shelby Miller, junior president; Derby Miller, junior vice president; and Jamie Morgison, junior secretary.

Will Pendleton, parliamentarian, talked about how to adjourn a meeting.

The county achievement celebration will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 2. The club will celebrate 4-H Sunday by attending First United Methodist Church on Dec. 7, having a pizza party and caroling.

Karen Pendleton urged the older members to apply for the Citizenship trip to Washington, D.C. Miranda Pratt and Randall Wingert joined the club. Matt Griffin was a guest.

The club made tray favors for the Meals on Wheels program.

The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11 at the fairgrounds. The new club officers will be installed. Members enrolled in the photography project will present the program. The Magnuson family will be hosts.
