Showalter services

Memorial services for Anne H. Showalter, 85, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Westside Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Lawrence.

Mrs. Showalter died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

She was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Beaver County, Okla., the daughter of Peter Henry and Sarah Katherine (Klaasen) Boese. She attended Hutchinson schools. She moved to Wichita in 1952 and to Oklahoma in 1978 before coming to Lawrence in 1990.

She was a dental assistant for Milford Sanders for 17 years, retiring in 1975.

Mrs. Showalter was a member of Moose Lodge No. 2033 in Grove, Okla., Pioneers of America and American Legion.

She married C. Les Showalter in 1937 in Hutchinson. He died April 24, 1992.

Survivors include three daughters, Dee Anne Link, Lawrence, Jeri Mahurin, Elephant Butte, N.M., and Chris Jennings, Independence, Kan.; two sons, James L. Showalter and Bruce A. Showalter, both of Independence, Kan.; a sister, Sarah Parker, Ulysses; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Westside Presbyterian Church, Grace Presbyterian Church in Grove, Schiefelbusch Foundation at Kansas University, or the KU speech department, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
