Memorial services for John C. Inloes, 74, Lecompton, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will be in Stull Cemetery.
Mr. Inloes died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, at Midland Hospice in Topeka after a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 24, 1929, in Fulton, the son of Charles S. and Cecil F. Wilson Inloes.
Mr. Inloes farmed in Douglas County for many years and had worked for the state of Kansas in the Parks and Recreation Department for more than 10 years. He was a member of Lecompton Historical Society and Douglas County Rural Water District No. 3 for more than 25 years. He received the Farm Bureau Conservation Award.
He married Billie Darlene Kellum on Oct. 29, 1949, in Wichita. She died Jan. 15, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Bruce, Topeka; two daughters, Deann Bartell, Enid, Okla., and Shari West, St. Joseph, Mo.; two brothers, Everett "Bert," Bonner Springs, and James O., St. Joseph; a sister, Mary Conway, Atmore, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
His foster parents, Jesse and Beulah O'Conner, died earlier.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice or Lecompton Historical Society, sent in care of the mortuary.
