The Seem-To-Be Players and the City Youth Theatre of the Lawrence Arts Center will combine to perform two Halloween-oriented productions beginning tonight.

Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” and his lesser-known “Dolph Heyliger” were adapted for the stage by Ric Averill, the Seem-To-Be Players’ artistic director, who will be acting and providing music for the plays. City Youth Theatre director Erin Girard is directing the plays.

Performances are at 7 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the arts center, 940 N.H.

The Seem-To-Be Players also will present the fourth installment of the “Cats and Bats” series with “Cats and Bats: Lucy Gets Lost.” The “Cats and Bats” tales, all penned by Averill, are intended to provide Halloween entertainment and teach life lessons to children.

“Lucy Gets Lost” is the story of the day Lucy the Cat is supposed to go to the veterinarian for a shot but instead decides to run away. Her friends Ranger the Mutt, Fang the Ferret and Belfry the Bat join together to rescue Lucy from the certain dangers of the big city. The play features Jennifer Glenn, Susanna Pitzer, Preston Girard, Erin Girard and Ric Averill.

The show will be performed at 1:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at the arts center. Sing-alongs will precede the show, which is recommended for children ages 3-7 and their families.
