Houston huge as Ottawa rolls

? Jason Houston ran for five touchdowns and returned a punt for another as Ottawa routed Anderson County, 51-26.

Houston scored on runs of 1, 21, 47, 18 and 5 yards and returned a punt for a 91-yard touchdown. Houston gained 180 yards on 19 carries and had more than 160 yards in return yardage.

Dom Nation also scored on a 6-yard run, and Caleb Mitchell added a 31-yard field goal.

Ottawa (6-1) plays Friday at Burlington.

Tonganoxie — Billy Baska rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Chieftains’ first loss of the season.

Tongie (6-1) took a 14-0 lead on Baska’s first-half TD runs of 70 and 24 yards, but the Chieftains didn’t score again.

Scott Lipobac tossed a pair of TD passes for Piper. The Pirates failed to convert either of their extra-point attempts but made up the difference when Tonganoxie snapped the ball out of the end zone for a safety.

Matt Mosier finished Tonganoxie off in overtime with a 20-yard field goal.

The Chieftains play Friday at Basehor-Linwood.

“He did a nice job,” said Wellsville coach Bill Oshel, whose team finished with 352 rushing yards. “People up front opened things up for him, and he took advantage of those holes.”
