The Lawrence 299ers Duplicate Bridge Club met Oct. 8 for its weekly game.

Seven pairs competed in a stratified game that used a Howell movement.

Don Brennaman directed the game. Don Daugherty and Harry Talley claimed first place. Lynn Hui and Jo Abbott were second in A and first in B and C. Harriet Olson and Artie Shaw placed third in A.

The Lawrence Duplicate Bridge Club’s Oct. 13 game attracted 9 1/2 tables.

The game was stratified, used the Rover Mitchell movement and was directed by Virginia Seaver.

The North-South winners were James Zhang and Harry Shaffer. Phyllis Brownlee and Madelyn Jenks placed second in A and first in B. Larry Bodle and Kent McCullough placed third in A, followed by John Hickey and Patt Radford. Russell LaForce and Ilse Steinhardt placed second in B and first in C. Chris Lane and Shirley Reese came in third in B.

The East-West winners were Chuck Hedges and Yvonne Hedges who placed first in A and B. Jeff Nash and Lois Jones placed second in A, followed by Paul Heitzman and Virginia Seaver. Eldon Herd and Glenna Herd came in fourth place in A and second place in B. Don Bush and Robert Huffman placed first in C.
