Correa to sit at A&M

The Kansas University volleyball team will play without injured freshman Janaina Correa at 7 tonight against No. 22 Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.

Correa, last week’s Big 12 Conference player of the week, also missed Saturday’s 3-0 victory against Oklahoma after sustaining the injury during warmups.

“People are moving around, trying to fill that void,” said junior Lindsey Morris, who led the Jayhawks with 15 kills against Oklahoma while filling in for Correa. “Different people have got to step up. People who haven’t played much are going to get a chance.”

The Jayhawks (12-6 overall, 4-3 Big 12) will look to seniors Abbie Jacobson and Jordan Garrison, as well as freshman Megan Hill.

Kansas coach Ray Bechard said his players were confident they could win without Correa, citing the Oklahoma match as a prime example, and said her absence would alter the Jayhawks’ strategy slightly.

“We know we can have some success,” Bechard said.
