The garage closed Sept. 29 so crews could reapply a waterproof coating that had failed and left concrete damaged.
The facility was supposed to open the first week of November, but repairs ran ahead of schedule. Two-thirds of the garage opened Friday, and the rest was scheduled to open this morning.
Baldwin wins weigh-in in change collection
High school football players weren’t the only winners from Baldwin on Friday.
While Baldwin High School squeaked out a 15-7 win over Eudora, Baldwin residents collected more weight in spare change during the “Weigh-In for United Way” challenge.
Baldwin residents collected 44 pounds of change, 1 pound more than residents of Eudora. Allen Poplin, Baldwin principal, accepted a traveling trophy during halftime of the game.
Although the weight of Baldwin’s collection jars was more, Eudora fans actually donated more money because they included more bills. Eudora brought in $248, compared with Baldwin’s $209.
