Pull out the umbrella

Get set for a wet evening — showers and storms will develop after 3:30 p.m. Monday across northeast Kansas, says Ross Janssen, 6News meteorologist.

“They’ll become pretty widespread through the rest of the evening,” Janssen said. The storms will bring some lightning and thunder, “but we’re not really expecting severe weather.”

Most of the rain will hold off until later in the evening, he said.

“The rain should end shortly after midnight,” he said. “Rainfall totals could be anywhere from a quarter of an inch to a half an inch in some locations.”

Tuesday’s morning low will be 45. The temperature will warm up to a high of 68 by Tuesday afternoon, he said.

Wednesday morning’s low will be 37, warming up to about 70 by Wednesday afternoon.

A second round of rain will come later in the week.

“There will be a chance for rain sometime Thursday night into Friday with our next frontal system moving through,” he said.
