How to help: Center to stock food pantry

Agency: Pelathe Community Resource Center

Address: 1423 Haskell Ave.

Contact person: Carolyn Hicks, assistant director, 841-7202

The Pelathe Community Resource Center will collect food to stock its pantry at “Late Night in the Phog” on Friday, the kickoff to the Kansas University men’s basketball season. The group will collect canned and boxed foods or money at the event. The center especially needs canned meat such as tuna, soups or pasta sauces, Hicks said.

“Honestly, our food pantry is almost down to bare walls,” she said. “We would certainly appreciate any help anybody can give us.”

The center also needs volunteers at Allen Fieldhouse to collect food beginning at 5 p.m. Friday as well as volunteers Monday morning to help transport food.
