Injury accidents

  • An accident Saturday night at the intersection of North Third and Lincoln streets left two people injured. The accident, which occurred shortly after 11 p.m., was still under investigation early this morning, but Sgt. Susan Hadl of the Lawrence Police Department said the driver of one of the cars was taken by air ambulance to University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kan., with multiple head and leg injuries. The driver of the other car was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
  • Four people were hospitalized Friday afternoon after a traffic wreck near Teepee Junction north of Lawrence. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that Lee Warrington, 38, of Shawnee, was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck at 1:15 p.m., when he failed to yield while making a left turn off of U.S. Highway 59 onto U.S. Highway 40. The passenger side of the pickup was struck by a northbound Jaguar driven by Shirley Perdue, 70, Perry. Perdue, Warrington and his passengers, Grover Groves, 21, of Kansas City, Kan., and Christopher Eubanks, 32, of Shawnee, all were treated and released at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, the Highway Patrol said.

Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A blank check from Sun Federal Credit Union and $4,500 in currency were taken sometime between Sept. 9 and Oct. 2, Lawrence Police reports said. Ryan Julian, a 22-year-old Washburn University student, reported the items taken from his home at 1923 Melholland Drive, reports released Saturday said.
  • A 1993 maroon Ford Probe was taken between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday from outside an apartment in the 2400 block of West 24th Terrace, Lawrence Police reported Saturday. The car has Kansas license plates and is worth an estimated $4,000.
