Calvary Temple Assembly of God

Kids Krusade for children ages 3 to 13 will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 606 W. 29th St. Terrace.

This is an activity for parents and children that will feature the learning of Scripture, singing and prizes. Children must be accompanied by their parents.

Bible study on Wednesday is canceled, and the women’s ministries meeting will be rescheduled due to the Kids Krusade.

Central United Methodist Church

Central United Methodist Church, 1501 Mass., will be host to its Women’s Fall Fling at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24. Participants will carpool to Raytown, Mo., for an evening with Sandi Patty and Christian comedian Chondra Pierce. Tickets are $20 and scholarships are available.

Centro Cristiano Torre Fuerte

A new Spanish-language church, Centro Cristiano Torre Fuerte, is forming in Lawrence. It meets at 6 p.m. Sundays for worship, Bible teaching and prayer.

Corpus Christi Catholic Church

The Knights of Columbus will have its monthly breakfast after both Masses Oct. 19 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 6001 W. 15th St.

Menu will feature pancakes, sausage and biscuits and gravy, served with coffee, juice and milk. A freewill donation is requested.

Proceeds will go to help pay expenses for an upcoming church youth trip.

Clinton Parkway Assembly of God

Clinton Parkway Assembly of God, 3200 Clinton Parkway, has joined Heartland Community Church, 619 Vt., in providing food for Heartland’s food pantry. Donations can be delivered to either church.

Worship Intended for the Severely Handicapped will be from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 18.

Women’s ministry will hold a craft and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 25 at the church. It is open to the community.

First Christian Church

Young married couples and singles are invited to attend a Pumpkin Patch Pick and Carving at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

Participants will meet at First Christian Church, 1000 Ky., then go to Shaake’s Pumpkin Patch for carving and food.

First Presbyterian Church

First Presbyterian Church, 2415 Clinton Parkway, will begin “Our Stewardship Ministry … My Discipleship Journey” with a congregational meeting at the end of the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Current budget and plans for 2004 will be discussed. A slate of candidates from the nominating committee to elect officers for the church for the class of 2006 will be received. The list includes elders, deacons, trustees and the nominating committee for 2004.

First United Methodist Church

The first annual Fall Funfest will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at the west campus of First United Methodist Church at the junction of U.S. Highway 40 and Kansas Highway 10.

Children’s Sabbath will be Sunday at the church’s downtown location, 946 Vt. The children’s choir will sing at the 9:40 a.m. and 11 a.m. worship services, and third-graders will receive Bibles in all three worship services.

A workshop, Faithfully Fit Forever, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Brady Hall. It is a non-denominational, faith-community-based program of exercise, devotion and health education that includes the individualized beliefs of your place of worship.

Apostolic Team Ministries

Apostolic Team Ministries, known as the “A-Team,” will visit River of Fire Church at 7 p.m. Sunday to minister to the congregation, offer prayers and teach. The church meets at Langston Hughes School, 1101 George Williams Way.

The A-Team is made up of three women and four men, ages 18 to 32, who travel the country to assist churches in whatever way is needed.

The ministry will also visit Living Water Church, which meets at the Lawrence Visitor Center, 402 N. Second St., at 9:45 a.m. Sunday.

St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church

St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church, 5700 W. Sixth St., will have its fall cookout at 5:30 p.m. today at the Graham family’s home behind the church. The event will feature food, a sing-along around a camp fire, hay rides, horse rides and activities for children.

Sign-up for the spiritual gifts workshop will take place after the 7:45 a.m., 9 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday worship services. The workshop will be Oct. 18. The Rev. Darrel Proffitt will deliver his message, “Decisions That Help You Make Decisions,” as part of the spiritual gifts awareness month.

The video team will meet after the 5:30 p.m. Sunday service.

Trinity Episcopal Church

Zane Wilemon will present the adult forum at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the parish hall of Trinity Episcopal Church, 1011 Vt. He will speak about the Kenya Project and his recent trip to Africa.

The Stewardship Committee will be host to receptions after the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services to mark the church’s Stewardship Sunday.

Trinity’s Altar Guild will meet with the Rev. Jonathon Jensen at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the parish hall.

Trinity Teens will meet with Wilemon at 5 p.m. Sunday for dinner and activities.

Trinity Lutheran Church

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1245 N.H., is having work days to make the children’s learning area more “kid friendly.” A work day will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Volunteers who would like to paint, or make and hang curtains and decorations should contact Norma Olson.

A women’s book study group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the parsonage to study the book, “How Much is Enough?” by Arthur Simon of Bread for the World. Linda Teske will lead the group, and a light supper will be served.

Training for assisting ministers, lectors and Communion assistants will be from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

This will be the first training session with Marie Rubis Bauer, minister of worship and music, and Michael Bauer, minister of arts. It will be an opportunity to share what worship assistants have learned, to discuss procedures and to explore new possibilities.

Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence

A spiritual celebration, “Building Your Own Theology,” will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence, 1263 N. 1100 Road.

A program, “BYOT: Results of the Quest,” will be presented from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. by Don Jacobs.

Coffee and fellowship will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Vinland United Methodist Church

A chili and chicken-noodle dinner and youth bake sale will be from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Vinland United Methodist Church, 1724 N. 692 Road. Freewill donations will be accepted.

West Side Presbyterian Church

The second Bible study in the “Curing Affluenza” series will begin at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the fellowship hall of West Side Presbyterian Church, 1204 Kasold Drive.

This is a video presentation with discussion designed to help those called to respond to the stewardship program that is under way and will continue the next four weeks.

The theme of the stewardship program is “Ready to Share.” It will be highlighted in short chancel dramas by the West Side Thespians, bulletin inserts and Minute for Missions emphasizing the work of the church and the role members can play in it.
