Kansas volleyball trips Texas Tech

Lubbock, Texas — Josi Lima recorded 21 kills as Kansas University beat Texas Tech, 3-1, in Big 12 Conference volleyball Saturday at United Spirit Arena.

The Jayhawks (11-5 overall, 3-2 Big 12) won, 25-30, 30-24, 33-31, 30-25. It was KU’s first league road win.

“I was very pleased with our balanced attack,” Kansas coach Ray Bechard said. “We had four players with 15 or more kills, and I think that it was our best attacking match of the year. It was a big match for us because any time you can get a win on the road in this conference, it’s great.”

Sara Rome had 19 digs and 16 kills for KU, and Janaina Correa had 15 kills and 14 digs. It was KU’s first win in Lubbock since 1999.

Stillwater, Okla. — Kansas University freshman Benson Chesang placed second in the men’s race to help KU to a third-place team finish Saturday at the Cowboy Cross Country Jamboree.

KU was third with 117 points. Megan Manthe was 24th to pace the KU women.
