DERBY ? A Derby man serving in Iraq died earlier this week from a noncombat gunshot wound, the Defense Department said Thursday.

Spc. Dustin K. McGaugh, 20, died Tuesday in Balad, Iraq. He was assigned to the headquarters battery of the 17th Field Artillery Brigade in Fort Sill, Okla.

The Defense Department said the incident was under investigation, and little other information was immediately available.
