The annual Holiday Farmers Market will have something for everyone.

Sponsored by the Lawrence Farmers Market, the holiday event will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 13, at the Knights of Columbus hall, 2206 E. 23rd St.

Forty-six vendors will fill the two floors of the hall with items such as elk and buffalo meat; goat and emu products; free-range chicken; breads, cakes, cookies and pies; hand-woven fabrics; homemade soaps, dried flowers and herbs; and ceramics, ironwork and woodwork.

Because vendors helped with the regular market from May to November, Emily Miller, coordinator of the holiday market, said she wanted the event to show support for the vendors.

“I want to celebrate their dedication and hard work,” Miller said. “The Farmers Market is something our community cherishes. I would like to extend an invitation to everyone.”

A meal of chili, barbecue or tamales will be served, Wendy Dalquest, committee chair, said.

Dalquest said she expected a good turnout for the event.

“Unless there’s severe weather, there’s usually a good turnout,” Dalquest said. “It seems like there’s thousands that attend.”

Like Miller, Mary Jo Menzie, treasurer for the Lawrence Farmers Market, expected the event to be festive.

“The farmers and bakers know each other,” Menzie said. “It’s like a party.”

Entertainment at the holiday market includes Santa Claus, a clown and performances by bands Two Dollar Shoe Revival Story and the Flying Dutchmen.
