James Kenneth Cross

Services for James Kenneth Cross, 69, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial with military honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Cross died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 24, 1934, in Haiti, Mo., the son of Alfred and Inez (Ingel) Cross.

Mr. Cross retired from the U.S. Army in 1968. He worked for Montgomery Ward as an appliance salesman and later at Laird Noller Ford as a car salesman.

He married Helen Nitsch on May 7, 1967, in Colorado Springs, Colo. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Julie Hauer, Hacienda Heights, Calif., Mary McClacherty, Olmstead, Ohio, and Sheri Inez Cross Pfeifer, Lawrence; a brother, Bob Cross, Battle Creek, Mich.; three sisters, Alfreda Cross, Peggy Jones and Linda Kilfoile, all of Battle Creek, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A son, Dustin Bridges, died in 1996.

The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the Oncology Unit at LMH, sent in care of the mortuary.
