Capitol Federal Savings donated more than 450 late-model personal computers to more than 20 various nonprofit organizations within its various market areas of Kansas. Among the organizations scheduled to receive computer equipment is Lawrence-based Van Go Mobile Arts.

Angela Solberg recently was licensed by the state of Iowa as a registered landscape architect. She is a landscape architect in Lawrence-based Landplan Engineering’s land planning division where she is responsible for the planning and design of subdivisions and site-specific projects.

Lawrence Therapy Services recently received its certification as an Anodyne Neuropathy Care Center and can offer anodyne treatments to patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy and other pain problems. The treatments are administered by a physical or occupational therapist.

Michael Clarke has opened the Law Offices of Michael R. Clarke, Chartered in the UMB Bank building at 15th Street and Wakarusa Drive.

He also was a speaker Nov. 7 at a continuing legal education program in Columbia, Mo., sponsored by the Missouri Bar. He spoke on “How to Evaluate and Select Civil Cases.”

Clark also spoke Nov. 12 at a continuing legal education program in Overland Park. It was sponsored by the National Business Institute Inc.

The Lawrence Chamber of Commerce announced that Caryn Andersen, Lawrence, won the Pure Kansas Season Ticket Prize Pack. The prize pack included two season tickets to all men’s and women’s Kansas University athletic events.

Honors and awards

Jones Seel Huyett was the only Topeka firm to appear on a list of Top Area Advertising Agencies in the November issue of Ingram’s Magazine. The list includes the top 25 advertising agencies near the Kansas City area. Rankings are based on 2002 capitalized billings. Jones Seel Huyett appeared at No. 15 on the list.

The Lawrence Technology Assn. will meet at noon Wednesday at the Hereford House, Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive. The speaker will be David Braaten, an associate professor at Kansas University. He teaches courses on atmospheric science and conducts research related to climate change in polar regions. During the past 10 years he has conducted field research on the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets, including three trips to the South Pole.

Housing and Credit Counseling will present its three-part home maintenance series in December. Each class will be from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Buchanan Center, 1195 SW Buchanan in Topeka.

The agency will present “Weed and Seed” on Wednesday. It will take a look at lawn care and landscaping tips. “Pipes and Circuits,” simple plumbing and electrical repair techniques, will be presented Dec. 10. On Dec. 18, “Paint and Paper” will cover the basics of painting and inexpensive decorating tips.
