Former ‘survivor’ chosen as ‘The View’ co-host

New York — The tribe has spoken: Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the new co-host on “The View.”

Hasselbeck, who made it to the finale on “Survivor: The Australian Outback,” was chosen after a three-month search for a replacement for Lisa Ling, the youngest member of the ABC talk show’s panel who left last year.

The other two finalists were Rachel Campos from MTV’s “The Real World: San Francisco” and Erin Hershey Presley of the defunct ABC soap opera “Port Charles.”

“I feel good sitting here,” Hasselbeck, a former shoe designer and host of the Style Channel’s “The Look for Less,” said after taking her seat at the table.

‘Witchblade’ actress sent to rehab program

Delray Beach, Fla.– Actress Yancy Butler, who starred in the canceled TNT series “Witchblade,” was ordered Monday to enter a substance-abuse treatment program after her weekend arrest for disorderly intoxication.

Butler was taken to jail Saturday after cars had to swerve to avoid hitting her as she wandered in and out of traffic, police said.

A Palm Beach County judge ordered that Butler be sent to The Renaissance Institute in Boca Raton while she awaits a Dec. 18 court appearance.

Butler told police Saturday that she was an alcoholic who was on medication, according to a Delray Beach Police report.

George Clooney’s father plans run for Congress

Nick Clooney, father of actor George Clooney and brother of the late singer Rosemary Clooney, said Monday that he would run for Congress from a district in northern Kentucky, Reuters reports.

Clooney, 67, will campaign as a Democrat to succeed three-term Democrat Rep. Ken Lucas, who backed Clooney’s candidacy in his retirement announcement.

Clooney, a former Cincinnati television news anchorman who currently writes a thrice-weekly column for the Cincinnati Post, has never run for public office.
