Laila N. (Hope) Welborn

Mrs. Welborn died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003, at a Topeka hospital.

She was born Sept. 13, 1921, in the Rock Creek community, the daughter of Benjamin L. and Cora (Miller) Hope.

Mrs. Welborn was a member of Meriden Community Church and worked in the Meriden community for many years.

She married H.G. Greeley Welborn on Aug. 8, 1939. He died Feb. 10, 1987. A daughter, Barbara Miller, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild also died earlier.

Survivors include eight daughters, Judy Stansbury, Leavenworth, Edith Dreasher, Perry, Norma Short, Eudora, Sally Moritz, LeMars, Iowa, Nancy Roach, Horton, Pam Bost, Lebanon, Mo., and Connie Goodnow and Fleeda Dehn, both of Topeka; five sons, Danny, John and Don Welborn, all of Meriden, George Welborn, Abilene, and Scott Welborn, Topeka; 42 grandchildren; 66 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. today at Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the church.
