Raymond ‘Shorty’ Schutz

? Services for Raymond “Shorty” Schutz, 73, Baldwin, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lighthouse Baptist Temple in Baldwin. Burial will follow in Vinland Cemetery.

Mr. Schutz died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at Baldwin Care Center.

He was born Nov. 4, 1930, in Lawrence, the son of Arthur and Goldie (Mitchell) Schutz. He was raised in Lawrence and attended No. 6 Grade School.

In the early 1950s he worked as a truck driver in the Vinland area. From 1975 to 1977 he worked as an insulator for a power plant in Point of Rocks, Wyo. He returned to the family farm north of Baldwin in 1977. He owned and operated Schutz Well Drilling Co. with his brother Kenneth Schutz.

Mr. Schutz was a member of the National Rifle Assn. and the Kansas Rifle Assn.

He married Darlene Anderson on Dec. 1, 1948 in Aztec, N.M. They divorced. He married Alta Chaney in 1981. They divorced.

Survivors include three daughters, Deneese Jardon and Raylene Hildebrand, both of Baldwin, and Connie Schutz, Lawrence; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

An infant son, Scotty, died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin.
