ELLIS ? Two Ellis residents died Saturday in a one-vehicle accident east of their hometown.

Diane Henderson, 18, and Matthew Grogan, 21, died and a Hays man was seriously injured in the accident on Old U.S. Highway 40.

Ellis County Sheriff Ed Harbin said the three were were traveling west when their car went into a ditch, skidded across the road and went into another ditch. The vehicle then became airborne and hit an embankment and a railroad bridge before stopping.

The sheriff did not say who was driving the vehicle, or what might have caused the accident.
