Walker services

Services for Charles L. Walker, 92, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Second Christian Church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.

Mr. Walker died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.

He was born July 16, 1911, in Eudora, the son of Moses and Ada Washington Walker.

Mr. Walker was a supervisor in custodial services in student housing at Kansas University until he retired. He also was a carpenter and home remodeler. He was a member of Second Christian Church and had been a deacon, elder and Sunday school teacher. He was a baseball coach for the Junior Dodgers.

He married Helen Margarete Georgia. They divorced. He married Josephine Stella Gaines in June 1947. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Margarie Walker, Lawrence, Glenna Maruska and Janie Hansard, both of Topeka; three sons, Lester, Charles Lee Jr., both of Lawrence, and Clarence David, Lenexa; a sister, Evelyn Kimball, Lawrence; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
