Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A burglar broke a door and stole about $2,200 worth of electronics and jewelry between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Friday from a home in the 100 block of Pawnee Avenue, according to a police report. Items taken included a 1/4-carat emerald earring, a camera, a DVD player and stereo equipment.
  • A 58-year-old Lawrence woman reported a microwave, TV, VCR and clock radio stolen between 10:50 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. Friday from her home in the 2500 block of Cedarwood Avenue. The burglar broke a window at the home, according to the report.
  • A $1,000 stereo receiver and $1,390 in currency were among the items taken between 5:45 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Friday from a home in the 800 block of East 14th Street. They belonged to a 26-year-old man who lives at the home.
  • A 56-year-old Overbrook woman reported more than $3,300 in antique furniture, including a Victrola record player and a $1,000 oak cabinet, stolen between Oct. 24 and Oct. 26 from her home in the 200 section of North 900 Road. She told police the items disappeared while she was out of town, but there were no signs of forced entry, said Lt. Kathy Tate, a spokeswoman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
