James Henry Yost

? Services for James Henry Yost, 84, Eureka, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.

Mr. Yost died Thursday, Oct. 30, 2003, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Jan. 15, 1919, in Stockton, Mo., the son of James Arthur and Melinda Jane (Belcher) Yost. He was raised and attended schools in Eureka, where he graduated from Eureka High School in 1937.

Mr. Yost worked for J.C. Penney Co. Inc. before serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge he returned to Eureka and worked for Robe Hardware. He began working for the U.S. Postal Service in the mid-1950s and retired in 1983 as supervisor of postal operations. He then worked for Eureka Federal Savings Bank until he retired in 1987.

He was a member of Christian Congregational Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2712, American Legion Post No. 50 and Fidelity Lodge No. 106.

He married Charlotte “Louise” Kerwin on July 8, 1951, in Eureka. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include a daughter, Maggie Osborn, Lawrence; a sister, Emily Marie Town, Eureka; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

A daughter, Carolyn Louise Winn, died earlier.
