Lawrence Own-Your-Own show raises more than $25K

The third annual Lawrence Own-Your-Own juried art exhibition and sale wrapped up Oct. 6 with purchases of artwork totaling $25,640.

The show, organized by the Lawrence Committee for the Advancement of the Visual Arts, occurs each year at no expense to the entrants, and the artists receive the full retail price for each piece sold. Entrants agree to make a tax-deductible donation in the amount of 20 percent of their sales to the Bert Nash Community Mental Health Center. The total donation to Bert Nash this year was more than $5,000.

Purchase Award Patrons were responsible for more than $16,000 in sales. Patrons purchased 43 percent of the works shown.
