Burglaries and thefts reported

  • A burglary occurred at 2:50 a.m. Thursday at Wood Oil Store 5, 920 N. Second St. A 3-by-6-foot pane of glass sustained an unknown amount of damage, and 22 cartons of cigarettes, valued at $704, were taken, police reported.

Accident report

  • Mario A. Garcia, Garnett, was treated and released from Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa after suffering injuries in an accident Thursday morning near Baldwin. Garcia was traveling north on U.S. Highway 59 when his car was struck by a vehicle traveling east on U.S. Highway 56. No one in the second vehicle was injured.
