LeRoy E. Transmeier

? Services for LeRoy E. Transmeier, 79, Nortonville, formerly of Lawrence, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be in Hardy Oak Cemetery in Sarcoxie Township in southeastern Jefferson County.

Mr. Transmeier died Friday, May 23, 2003, in Jefferson County Geriatric Center in Winchester after a long illness.

He was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Lawrence, the son of Ernest Albert and Mabel (Almeda) Transmeier. He lived most of his life in Lawrence and later lived in McLouth and Nortonville.

Mr. Transmeier was a truck driver for 35 years, working for Dealer’s Transport and Jones Trucking Co. in Lawrence. He also was an auctioneer and farmer for many years.

He married Juanita Marie Hill on May 8, 1944, in Ottawa. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Joe L., Trimble, Mo., and Wayne Lee, Shawnee; two daughters, Gloria L. Noll, Nortonville, and Jeannie Hansen, Lecompton; a brother, Cecil, Oskaloosa; a sister, Letha McCrary, Lawrence; seven grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa.
