Two teachers are among Lawrence’s best.

George “Skip” Bennet, a language arts teacher at Southwest Junior High, and Jane Imber, a librarian, of Quail Run elementary school, are the newest recipients of the mayor’s “Excellence in Education” award.

The two were recognized at ceremonies Wednesday morning at their respective schools.

They were nominated by their colleagues and chosen by a committee of city and school district officials.

The award recognizes teachers who demonstrate excellence in education, leadership and community involvement.
