George W. Kreye

? Family memorial services for George W. Kreye, 95, Largo, Fla., will be later.

Mr. Kreye died Tuesday, May 13, 2003, at Sylvan Health Center in Clearwater, Fla.

He was born June 4, 1907, in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Mr. Kreye was a professor of German languages and literature at Yale, Kansas University and Boston University, where he chaired the modern foreign languages department. He was author of several studies of literature and linguistics of Middle High German, a member of National Modern Foreign Language Assn., an adviser for the development and administration of the National Defense and Education Act, and an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II in the military intelligence corps.

He married Regina Prislin in 1933. She died in 1974.

Survivors include two sons, Kenneth G., Largo, and George M., Littleton, Colo.; two daughters, Carolyn Kreye Tribe, Cambridge, Mass., and Virginia Kreye Rainey, Brighton, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
