Claude G. Summerville

— Graveside services for Claude G. Summerville, 88, Perry, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa.

Mr. Summerville died Monday, May 19, 2003, at his home.

He was born March 21, 1915, in Jefferson City, Mo., the son of LeRoy "Ned" and Wilma N. (Scott) Summerville.

Mr. Summerville was a ships service barber second class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a heavy- equipment mechanic for Dunbar Construction Co. in Topeka until he retired in 1983.

He married Martha Elizabeth Gutschenritter on Feb. 16, 1943, in Holton. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Charles, Oskaloosa, Sam, Perry, and John, Topeka; four daughters, Linda Levings and Beta Goepfert, both of Perry, Claudia Zimmerman, Silver Lake, and Beth Harrison, Topeka; a brother, Bill, Sonora, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.

The family suggests memorials to American Heart Assn. or American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home, 820 Liberty St., Oskaloosa 66066.
