Manhattan ? No one was injured Friday in a fire that destroyed a bar and jewelry shop in the Aggieville district near Kansas State University.

At least 60 firefighters helped bring the blaze under control by 2 p.m., but not before it destroyed the Aggie Station bar and Krystallos jewelry and gift shop, Chief Jim Woydziak said.

The fire was reported shortly before 7:20 a.m., the Manhattan Fire Department said. Crews thought they had the fire under control, but it was concealed and eventually spread across the roof, Woydziak said.

Cheryl Sieben, director of the Aggieville Business Assn., said neighboring businesses had filled with smoke.
